What is Short Code?
Short code, or SMS short code, is a registered, abbreviated phone number that is 5 or 6 digits in length versus the traditional 10 digits. Because carriers vet and approve all short codes for their intended use, they are subject to minimal carrier filtering while allowing a higher volume of traffic.
The eLynx Technologies short code is 78690
Enrolling in Short Code
As eLynx moves to short code, users will be notified prior to the transition and after the notification, automatically enrolled. Once the switch is made, any text notifications from that point forward will be sent via short code. (Even clear and acknowledge notifications will be sent through the Short Code number regardless of whether the alarm notification was sent via the old text number.)
Disabling Short Code
Users can disable short code via text or from within the application. If a user wishes to no longer receive notifications via text, they can reply with STOP and will receive the following Opt-Out message:
To disable from within the application, select User Profile & Settings
From the User Profile tab, under the Recipients section, there is a disable option on the SMS Recipients.
By selecting to Disable, a prompt confirming you wish to disable ALL text notifications is shown.
To confirm, check the box and select Yes, Continue.
After confirming you wish to Disable, the screen will show that you have a Disable Pending.
To commit the changes, Select Update User Profile.
Once updated, a note indicating the notifications have been disabled and when is added.
Enable Short Code
If you have disabled short code, you have two options to enable. Via text, respond with START to re-enroll or from the application under the user Profile and settings, select Enable on the SMS Recipients.
Be sure to save changes by selecting Update User Profile.
