Once a Water Loss Detection Unit has been added to the system, Alarms will have to be manually added to the device for complete functionality from the desktop application.
For a video demonstration, click here.
From the Summary Listing Screen, Select the device that was just installed and is in need of Alarms.
Once the Device has loaded you can begin to add the following alarms to the device. The first two are standard but the Pressure Variance will differ depending on a few variables.
Battery Voltage Alarm
Select Battery Voltage from the tags listed.
Once the Battery voltage Tag Details page loads, select the Alarm Setpoints Tab.
From the Alarm Setpoints tab, Select Add Alarm Setpoint
Selecting Add Alarm Setpoint, will open the Alarm Setpoint Step Menu Consisting of 5 Steps.
Step 1: Logic
In step one, you will create the logic for the Battery Alarm Setpoint. Based on what is needed for the device to run, anything less than 11.8 Volts should be cause for concern. Create an alarm as shown below:
Data Type: Numeric
Comparison: Value Comparison
Type: Database Alarm
Alarm when the value is: less than 11.8 Voltage (DC) Volts DC
Alarm setpoint Name: Low Voltage Alarm
For more information on alarm logic click here.
Once complete, click to move to step 2, by clicking the Usage button in the bottom right corner.
Step 2: Usage
In step two, the logic in step one is added to a device or can be added to multiple devices. Based on the unit of measure in step one, the available devices and tags are limited to those defined in step one. In this instance, those devices with tags that are in Volts.
Select the check box beside the Battery Voltage tag on the new Device.
For more information on the usage screen click here.
Once complete, click to move to step 2, by clicking the Notifications button in the bottom right corner.
Step 3 Notifications
In step three, you are adding the people you wish to have notified in the event the logic on the specified device occurs. In this case, when the battery voltage dips below 11.8 Volts on the St Lawrence Line device, you want to notify X. The following is a simplified version of a notification and deals with a One-Time Notification when the alarm is triggered.
Select recipients or notification lists by checking the box next to the appropriate names/lists. For more information on how notifications are handled click here.
In the event you would like to set up a Tiered Alarm Scheme that notifies once and then if not acknowledged alarms again please click here
Step 4: Actions
In step four, you are setting what actions you wish to happen when the alarm is triggered. The default is that the alarm will show as red on the summary listing screen when the alarm has been triggered and has not been acknowledged. If the alarm has been acknowledged it shows as green.
The Messaging for Text cannot be changed but email notifications and voice callout messages can. For more information, click here
Step 5: Summary
Step five is an overview of all previous steps is shown prior to committing the changes to the system. Once complete, select Create Alarm Setpoint.
The Alarm Setpoint has been added.
Communication Status Alarm
Select Comm Alarm from the tags listed.
Once the Comm Alarm Tag Details page loads, select the Alarm Setpoints Tab.
From the Alarm Setpoints tab, Select Add Alarm Setpoint
Selecting Add Alarm Setpoint, will open the Alarm Setpoint Step Menu Consisting of 5 Steps.
Step 1: Logic
In step one, you will create the logic for the Comm Alarm Setpoint. Create an alarm as shown below:
Data Type: Numeric
Comparison: Value Comparison
Type: Database Alarm
Alarm when the value is: Equal to 1-Alarm Undefined Normal/Alarm
Alarm setpoint Name: Comm Alarm
For more information on alarm logic click here.
Once complete, click to move to step 2, by clicking the Usage button in the bottom right corner.
Step 2: Usage
In step two, the logic in step one is added to a device or can be added to multiple devices. Based on the unit of measure in step one, the available devices and tags are limited to those defined in step one. In this instance, those devices with tags that are in Volts.
Select the check box beside the Comm Alarm tag on the new Device.
For more information on the usage screen click here.
Once complete, click to move to step 2, by clicking the Notifications button in the bottom right corner.
Step 3 Notifications
In step three, you are adding the people you wish to have notified in the event the logic on the specified device occurs.
Pressure Variance Alarm
The most important water loss detection alarm and where each system will differ. Depending on device placement in your system the tolerances are going to be different. On top of that, some of you will have a Hydrostatic Analysis so we can use the variance, and some of you will not. If you don’t have a Hydrostatic Analysis reach out to our support team and they can walk you through adding one.
If you have a hydrostatic analysis for the segment of the system where this device is placed. See Pressure – Absolute Variance. If you don't have a hydrostatic analysis click here.
Pressure - Absolute Variance
Select Pressure – Absolute Variance from the tags listed.
Once the Pressure – Absolute Variance Tag Details page loads, select the Alarm Setpoints Tab.
From the Alarm Setpoints tab, Select Add Alarm Setpoint
Selecting Add Alarm Setpoint, will open the Alarm Setpoint Step Menu Consisting of 5 Steps.
Step 1: Logic
In step one, you will create the logic for the Pressure - Absolute Variance.
Create an alarm as shown below:
Data Type: Numeric
Comparison: Value Comparison
Type: Database Alarm
Alarm when the value is: less than _________ Pressure PSI (This is where you have to set your own tolerance in the system as every system is different. We have one customer that has a general standard of a Warning Alarm at <-5 psi, a Low Alarm set at <-15psi and a Critical alarm set at <-20)
Alarm setpoint Name: PSI -Alarm Critical
Note: This one can be a bit confusing as it is looking at the difference between the current pressure and the hydrostatic pressure (aka expected pressure). See an example below of the pressure drops.

Select the check box beside the Pressure - Absolute Variance tag on the new Device.
