The Device Trending tool allows you to quickly and easily run trends for a single device (see Group Trending to trend multiple devices). You can also create new trend configurations to instantly view charts that best suit your needs, with your desired data values, trimeframe and customization.
Note: The appropriate security permissions must be granted to your user account by your site administrator, in order to utilize the SCADALynx Trending functionality.
Navigate to the Device Details page of the device you wish to trend, then click the Device Trending icon from the side menu.
You can also navigate to the trending functionality from a Summary Listing page, by clicking the Device Trending icon in the Shortcuts column, or right-click next to the Device Name.
Note: If your Shortcuts column is missing, you can enable this feature by going to Settings in User Profile & Settings.
If default tags have been selected (Defaults tab of the Device Details page), or a default trend configuration has been set to the device, this will auto populate on the Device Trending page. If neither exist, the page will read No data found.
From the toolbar, you can select/view an existing configuration by clicking the Please select a configuration drop-down selection.
To create a new trend configuration, click Configure.
Under Configuration Properties, provide a name for your trend configuration and change the drop-down selection from Private to Shared, or Shared Read-Only, if you want other users to be able to access this trend.
Note: Keep Trending Mode set to the default of Configuration-Based Trending.
The duration of your configuration will default to the past 6 days. To choose a different timeframe, click the drop-down field under Duration to choose/configure one of the following options:
- Multiple Timeframes
- Current Single Timeframe
- Previous Single Timeframe
- Specific Start/End Times
You can also enable to show Memo and/or Alarm Markers under Options.
Under Section Details, click the Contents tab and scroll down to have the options to enable Include Internal Tanks, or Display data on a single axis.
Under Section Details, click the Data tab to select your desired Sample Rate, Aggregate Options and Data Values.
Click the Order tab to drag/drop the data values in the order you desire them to appear in.
Note: The first data value listed will appear on the left side of the chart of the Y-axis.
Data Series Options
To format and customize your trend, click on the Chart Format tab and choose the data value you would like to change under Data Series Option.
The next few drop-downs will give you the option to select the Type, Style and Color of your trend lines. You can also choose the icon for any Data Markers you have chosen to display.
In order to:
- Change the range of your Y-axis (Fixed Minimum/Maximum Value)
- Show Gridlines
- Make your chart Interlaced or Logarithmic
- Show your trend Legend
Select your desired data value under Y-Axes Options and enable/disable the selections.
Navigate Back to Configuration Properties
To navigate back to Configuration Properties to change your data values or timeframe click on the arrow icon next to Configuration Properties.
Additional Configuration Sections
To add/edit sections to your trend configuration, go to Configuration Properties, then click the drop-down selection under Configuration Sections. From here you can choose to:
- Add a New Section
- Reorder Sections
- Delete an Existing Section
- Rename a Section
- Copy an Existing Section
You will receive the following notification in the top-right corner to confirm your trend configuration as saved.
Set Trend Configuration as Your Default
To set your trend configuration as the default for a device, select it from the main toolbar on the Device Trending page, then click Default Configuration.
Temporary Duration Override
You can temporarily override the timeframe set to your trend configuration by clicking Duration on the main toolbar.
You can download your trend into PNG format by clicking the 'Download Chart PNG' icon.
View Trend on Other Devices
Without leaving the trending functionality, you can view your configuration on other devices in the group you're residing, by clicking the 'Previous/Next' navigation arrows, or click the drop-down from the navigation breadcrumb.
